Commenting on the F Class news, Kiran Haslam, Marketing Director, Princess Yachts, said: “Princess Yachts goes from strength to strength through a combination of launching innovative and exciting new yachts such as the R35 and X95, and maintaining a strong focus and refining our core offering across the flybridge range. The F50 sets a new standard for us and the market for flybridges at this size, so whilst we enjoyed celebrating the F55’s award, we know that the addition of the F50 to our F Class range moves the game on even further.”
Princess F50 overview
The brand-new F50 flybridge from Princess Yachts completes the rapid and dramatic overhaul of the F Class range that combines classic Princess flybridge qualities of innovative use of space, supreme focus on quality of design and manufacture, and superb performance and sea-keeping. The F50 joins the F45, F55, F62 and F70 to complete the all-new line up of five classic flybridge yachts. Princess is the UK’s best-selling brand of luxury motor yachts and the flybridge offering is core to the brand’s growing success. The success of the F Class range has supported the delivery of a record order book for the company, as well as record financial results. The new Princess F50 delivers the ultimate on-water experience for a flybridge yacht, with an extreme focus on the use of space and dynamic performance. Stylish and technically advanced, the F50 features a luxurious full beam master stateroom, a forward cabin and an additional twin guest cabin.
Princess’s advanced resin-infused hull lies at the heart of the all-new F50. Its structural form provides vital functions and technical sea-keeping advantages, helping to optimise lift and reducing drag whilst underway. Combined with a pair of Volvo IPS 800 engines, the new F50 delivers engaging performance and handling, with a top speed of up to 36 knots*. Anthony Sheriff, Executive Chairman, Princess Yachts, said: “The new F50 shares the same level of design quality and engineering prowess as the rest of the F Class range, but also shows how we constantly innovate in our design and engineering. Whichever F Class yacht you choose, each one exemplifies a focus on exceptional use of space, usability and engineering quality that underpin the creation of large spaces in which owners and guests will enjoy their time onboard.” The Princess Yachts F Class range now features the F50 alongside the F45, introduced at January’s boot Düsseldorf, the F55, introduced at the 2017 Southampton Boat Show, the F62, introduced at the 2017 Cannes Yachting Festival, and the F70, introduced at Cannes in 2018.
Design
The stunning F50 has been created by the Princess Design Studio working in collaboration with Princess’s long-standing naval architect, Bernard Olesinski. The naval architects were responsible for introducing a new generation of Princess yachts in 1980 with the introduction of the first Olesinski Princess yacht and next year will mark the 40th anniversary of that ground-breaking first collaboration with the company. The new F50 brings modern-day elegance and sophistication to the shape of the compact flybridge yacht. The stylish and instantly recognisable exterior design profile provides the foundation for sweeping, sculpted features that run the length of the F50 hull. The F50 has been designed with on-deck living in mind, apparent from the moment guests are welcomed on board. A sociable cockpit seating area seamlessly connects to the aft galley. Full attention has been paid to the transition between exterior and interior main deck spaces, inviting guests to enjoy on-deck living while moving seamlessly from indoors to out. Recessed feature lines through the internal bulkheads and headlining, and the hand-stitched helm seat, are a true expression of Princess craftsmanship.
Moving forward, the patio doors give way to the saloon, with U-shaped seating / dining area for 6, forward of a well-equipped aft galley, featuring a three-zone hob, a microwave / convection oven and a refrigerator with deep freeze. An icemaker and dishwasher are optional. Below deck, up to six guests can enjoy three beautifully appointed, spacious cabins, two of which are en-suite. All are filled with natural light from the sweeping hull glazing. The generous full beam master stateroom features a double bed with drawers below, a wardrobe with shelves, and a dressing table with mirror. The en-suite has a full-sized shower and a wash basin with Solid Surface worktop. The en-suite forward stateroom features a large double bed, with the option of scissor berths that easily convert into a double berth for added flexibility. The bathroom mirrors much of the equipment in the master stateroom, again with a solid surface floor and opening porthole.
For owners who wish to spend time on deck the F50 delivers with a spacious foredeck boasting a luxurious sunpad, perfect for reclining and relaxing in a secluded bay. On the flybridge, the well-proportioned layout features a spacious aft U-shaped seating area, forward L-shaped seating to the portside which converts to a sunbed, twin helm seats, and an adjustable steering wheel. The dual-station instrumentation and latest Volvo-Garmin navigation and control systems enable the Princess F50 to be helmed from both the main deck and flybridge for precision manoeuvring. Andy Lawrence, Director of Design, Princess Yachts, said: “The overall design is classic, modern Princess – elegant and refined with an almost seamless transition from outside to inside in its look and feel – whilst signature Princess design details reinforce the feeling of quality and ensure consistency across our revised F Class range. Key features are the all-new hull port lights, which give the F50 a distinct identity, and the glazing that is now connected and has a forward-leaning angle. This design visually hints at the F50’s performance characteristics.”
Performance
The new Princess F50 has been designed from the deep-V hull upwards to offer dynamic and effortless sea-keeping. The refined design below the water line complements the twin Volvo D8-IPS 800 engines, improving efficiency and agility at speeds of up to 36 knots*. Princess’s hulls are born from the company’s naval architects’ drive for exceptional sea-keeping and voluminous space – their sculpted form, shaped from a lightweight, resin-infused composite, creates a greater internal volume compared to standard hull production methods. The variable geometry of the deep-V hull translates into assured, taut handling. The F50 requires less power and burns less fuel than comparative yachts thanks to the pioneering hull design, whether slicing through flat seas or navigating stormy waters. With smooth power delivery, it has been optimised for greater lift and less drag, producing lower planning speeds and greater efficiency. Craftsmanship Princess Yachts represents the epitome of British craftsmanship. The company is renowned for designing and manufacturing luxury yachts from its Plymouth headquarters for more than 50 years. Synonymous with luxurious style and power, the latest Princess will impress from the moment you step aboard. Instantly recognisable as a member of the Princess fleet, the new F50 utilises the same quality ethos as larger flybridge yachts from Princess. It retains the same overall design integrity through the use of the finest materials and timbers available.
All the traditional Princess qualities of craftsmanship and attention to detail are on display, honed and refined, and the F50 represents the highest level of build quality in the sector.
